Since 1911, the University has grown to impact every facet of our region. As our rapidly-changing social landscape continues to pose new challenges, a foundation in the social sciences creates a greater capacity to find creative solutions at a time when our complex world calls for it most. From the study of historical, political, social and cultural issues, to projections for our future, the College of Social Sciences’ programs are designed to develop essential skills necessary to provide leadership for the future and change our world. The college seeks to instill a concern for human values and civic responsibility, and its students graduate to become the next generation of judges, city planners, elected officials, researchers, business people, teachers, lawyers, law enforcement officers and government officials.
Many important learning experiences take place outside the classroom. Gifts to the College of Social Sciences Dean's Circle fund internships, support student research and allow students participate in conferences and engage in other important experiences that will enhance their education.
Fresno State Forensic Science Institute
The Fresno State Forensic Science Institute would be the first in-state, university-based forensic anthropology facility dedicated to real-world, hands-on learning experiences for our students. These experiences will combine outdoor facilities only available in Fresno and indoor lab and research space for faculty conducting cutting edge research. The Forensic Science Institute will elevate Fresno State to become the premier university for undergraduate forensic science education, research, and practice in California and beyond. Your support of this transformative project will shape and diversify the future of the field while providing transformative learning experiences that set our graduates up for career success and social mobility.
ARISE Fund - Access to Research and Internships for Student Excellence
Student research, internships, and other high impact practices are a crucial component of a well-rounded education that set students up for excellence and success. Yet, we know that access to these experiences is unequal. Donations to the College of Social Sciences ARISE (Access to Research and Internships for Student Excellence) Fund can support these experiences by funding internships, providing financial assistance for research, enabling participation in professional conferences, and facilitating other important experiences. Through these opportunities, students can develop their research skills, gain hands-on experience, network with professionals in their chosen career path, and access transformative learning that set them up for career success and social mobility.
