The Maddy Institute
Established in 1999, The Maddy Institute is a nonpartisan public policy institute committed to inspiring the next generation of leaders, civic engagement, and elevating policy issues in the Central Valley.
At the core of The Maddy Institute's mission is its paid internship programs, providing students with hands-on opportunities to experience the inner workings of government and the legislative process. Maddy Interns receive up to $7,000 to intern in federal, state, and local legislative offices in Washington, D.C., Sacramento, and throughout the Valley. Since its founding, The Maddy Institute has awarded over 600 scholarships to students from the Central Valley. Nearly 70% of Maddy Alumni remain in our communities as policymakers, legislative staff, judges, attorneys, and leaders across nonprofit and business sectors.
